Europe, region by region.

The whole continent, Iceland to the Urals, carved into 239 heritage regions. Toggle the borders to recolour it into 1444 (the Holy Roman Empire and its neighbours), 1880 (the empires before the wars) or today. Pick a language tree to outline its reach — German runs across Austria, German-Switzerland, Alsace and the old eastern lands; regions are shared, so Alsace shows for both French and German.
