Schalun Castle
Schalun Castle (Ruine Schalun) is a medieval hilltop castle ruin located about 1 km northeast of Vaduz in Liechtenstein. Built around the late 12th century and first recorded in 1237, the site today preserves mainly a grand hall and a remaining section of its keep and is freely accessible by a mountain footpath.

Perched on a wooded mountainside roughly a kilometre northeast of Vaduz, the castle in its prime is a compact stone stronghold: a central rectangular keep rising above adjoining roofed domestic ranges, and an attached great hall with a continuous stone façade. External walls are local grey-brown masonry; roofs on the hall and service ranges are timber with pitched profiles. The castle sits above a steep, forested slope with a narrow footpath winding up to the main entrance.
