Torup Castle
Torup Castle is a three-storey Renaissance-era brick castle in Svedala Municipality, Scania, Sweden. Constructed in 1537 and given its present early-17th-century appearance during restorations 1602–1630, it stands within extensive beech-wood parkland and is owned by Malmö municipality, with the grounds open to the public.

Three-storey brick building arranged on a compact square plan, anchored by an octagonal tower at the northwest corner and a round tower at the southeast corner. The massing is brick throughout with vertical window openings on each floor. The castle sits within parkland and beech forest and, in the prime condition, occupies the edge of a small estate lake ringed by an earthen dam.

Torup Castle was constructed in 1537 by Görvel Fadersdotter (Sparre), who intended it as a residence for her son, Nils Ulfstand. The three-storey brick building forms a square with an octagonal tower at the north-west and a round tower at the south-east corner, and significant restoration between 1602 and 1630 gave it its current Renaissance appearance.
The castle eventually passed to Sigvard Grubbe, who owned it until his death in 1636. In 1647 it was acquired by Corfitz Ulfeldt, only to be confiscated by the Swedish Crown in 1660; it later passed to the Stjernblad family before Court Marshal Baron Gustaf Julius Coyet bought it in 1812. Under the Coyets, by the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Torup had become a gathering place for Sweden's cultural and scientific elite.
Malmö municipality acquired the estate in 1970 to preserve its value as a recreational and natural resource. The castle sits within the Torup beech forest — 340 hectares, of which 180 have been a nature reserve since 2019 — and its grounds are freely open to the public, with guided tours of the castle available on a limited basis.
