Brussels Rebuilt: Grand-Place, 1700
Five years after the 1695 French bombardment, Brussels’s central square has been raised again by the city’s guilds into a coherent baroque ensemble trimmed with gilt. The walk moves from the approach through market streets and river quays to the newly restored Grand-Place, its intact town‑hall spire, and the working tapestry and lace workshops that are returning the city’s trade.
