Frankfurt's Altstadt, 1900
At the turn of the century Frankfurt's Altstadt is a dense cluster of timber-framed houses, church spires and narrow lanes gathered around the cathedral and the Römer. This walk follows trams, quay traffic and footways through the markets, gabled squares and workshops of the old town in the last decades before much of its medieval fabric was lost in the Second World War.
25 scenes, 16 streets, squares and views, 9 interiors to step inside. Planned from the Wikipedia record of Frankfurt as it stood in 1900 (“Frankfurt”).
