de' Barbari's Venice, 1500

This is Venice at the high Renaissance cusp, the maritime republic still wealthy from eastern trade and famed for painting, printing and spectacle. The walk moves from the lagoon into the heart of the city: customs and docks, the Doge's Palace and Piazza San Marco, the crowded Rialto markets and the narrow sestieri where painters, printers, mask-makers and shipwrights work and trade.

38 scenes — 23 streets, squares and views, 15 interiors to step inside. Planned from the Wikipedia record of Venice as it stood in 1500 (“History of the Republic of Venice”).
