At the height of its medieval prosperity, Ypres is a great wool city of tens of thousands, its economy organised around the vast Cloth Hall and the canalised Ieperlee. This walk follows the long arcaded front of the Hall and its belfry, the quays where English wool arrives, the market stalls, the dyeing and fulling workshops that stain the streams, the parish streets and the outer weavers’ terraces.
