The shape it held in its prime.

A monumental white-clad basilica with a dominant central copper-green dome topped by a gilded cross, surrounded by several smaller green domes and semi-domes. Smooth pale stone or marble façades are punctured by tall narrow arched windows in the drum and rows of arched window galleries; the main entrance is a triple-arched portico with mosaic panels above the doors. The silhouette is layered, horizontal cornices and rounded rooflines forming a stepped composition on a planted plateau.
