Blenkinsopp Castle
Blenkinsopp Castle is a country house and surviving medieval tower house sited above the Tipalt Burn about one mile south of Greenhead, Northumberland. The standing buildings combine fragments of a 14th‑century square tower with a largely rebuilt Tudor‑style country mansion (renovated 1877–80); parts were later fire-damaged and partly demolished. It is a Grade II listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

The shape it held in its prime.
On a ridge above the Tipalt Burn stands a compact complex of dressed, squared yellow‑brown sandstone: a medieval square tower house with crenellated top abutting an L‑plan north range and a square‑plan entrance block. The 1877–80 Tudor‑style rebuild presents 4‑centred arched doorways, mullioned windows, crenellated parapets and steep roofs with visible chimneys on the occupied ranges; a low enclosing wall creates a small paved yard. At prime the roofs and chimneys were intact and the entrance block whole.
