Château de Crussol
Château de Crussol is a mostly-ruined 12th-century limestone hilltop castle in Saint-Péray, Ardèche, France. The site occupies a rocky summit overlooking the Rhône valley and Valence, with extensive curtain walls enclosing a terraced hamlet (the Vilette) on the slopes and a prominent square keep on the summit. The ruins are a classified monument historique and have been the subject of conservation work.

A pale limestone hilltop stronghold crowning a rocky scarp, dominated by a multi-storey square keep on the summit and surrounded by an extended ring of stone curtain walls that step down the slope in terraces. Within the outer enclosure are rows of low rectangular stone house ranges clustered as a hamlet on the hillside. From the plain the castle reads as layered stone walls and towers set directly on the cliff edge, fully roofed and continuous at its prime.

The Château de Crussol crowns a rocky limestone summit above Saint-Péray, dominating the Rhône valley directly opposite Valence. It was rebuilt in stone in the 12th century by a lord named Gerald Basset, in order to control the existing transportation route along the Rhône. Extensive curtain walls enclose a terraced hamlet on the slopes, known as the Vilette, with a prominent square keep on the summit.
Now mostly ruined, the castle is a classified monument historique and has been the subject of conservation work. In 1984 the commune of Guilherand-Granges bought the ruins, even though the site technically lies within the boundaries of the neighbouring commune of Saint-Péray.
