Château du Lude
The Château du Lude is a Loire Valley château on the banks of the river Loir in Le Lude, Sarthe, France. It developed from a 10th–11th-century fortress into a Renaissance residence with an 18th-century classical wing and landscaped gardens, and remains a restored, inhabited monument combining medieval towers and later architectural layers.

A compact château built into the riverbank with large cylindrical corner towers flanking a rectangular central corps de logis; walls of pale cream limestone with horizontal string courses and round oculi windows punctuating the façades. Steep slate mansard and hip roofs rise with ornate carved dormers and tall sculpted chimneys. A balustraded terrace and an arcaded lower level open onto the river; formal parterres, clipped topiaries and a longer English-style park surround the house. At prime the complex is complete and occupied.
