Castle Saunderson
Castle Saunderson is a 19th-century castellated country house near Belturbet in County Cavan, Ireland, that served as the Saunderson family seat. The building was completed in 1840 and later burned; today it stands as a ruin within a demesne that includes a church and family graveyard and hosts an international scouting centre.

A mid-19th-century castellated country house of grey ashlar stone with multiple projecting cylindrical towers and square bays, all finished with crenellated parapets. The three-storey entrance front has a recessed arched doorway flanked by round turrets, and regular tall rectangular windows on each floor. Short stone balustrades and low connecting walls run between the projections. The house stands on a maintained lawn within a wooded demesne immediately inland from the Finn River/Upper Lough Erne channel and was fully roofed and intact at its prime.

The original castle at this site near Belturbet was inhabited by the O'Reillys of Breffni and known from the 14th century as Breffni Castle. The Saunderson family acquired it during the Plantation of Ulster. Robert Sanderson, who fought for William of Orange, inherited it from his father in 1676; James II's troops burned the castle in 1689, and months later 400 of James's soldiers were ambushed nearby, many drowning in the Finn River.
The present castellated house dates to 1840 and remained the Saunderson seat — Colonel Edward James Saunderson, a founder of the Ulster Unionist Party, was born there, and the castle hosted Orange Order events for The Twelfth. Destroyed by fire in 1990, it now stands in ruins; in 1997 Scouting Ireland acquired the demesne, opening the Castle Saunderson International Scouting Centre in 2012.
