Piccolomini Castle
Castello Piccolomini is a late-medieval castle in Celano, Abruzzo, completed in its present form in 1463 by Antonio Todeschini Piccolomini. The building has a rectangular plan with corner towers, surrounding defensive walls and a central courtyard now roofed by a colonnade and open gallery.

Rectangular, multi-storey masonry castle with its longest façades facing north and south, defined by four prominent corner towers and irregular outer curtain walls punctuated by additional towers of both square and truncated-conical profile. A central open courtyard contains a stone well and is surrounded at ground level by a colonnade, with an open gallery on the courtyard's second floor. The roofline is interrupted by tower caps and the arcade of the gallery, creating a compact, fortress-like silhouette.

The castle is protected by a circuit of irregular walls carrying several towers, some square in plan and others trunk-conical. Restored, it stands over the town largely complete today.
