A three-storey stone villa with five cylindrical towers capped by steep conical metal roofs, a central rectangular block with a pitched, tiled roof and small gabled dormers. Facades are light grey masonry with regularly spaced windows and arched openings on the upper floor. One tower projects a curved, glazed veranda; a low semicircular stone retaining wall and terrace drop to a rock-studded alpine garden. The castle sits within dense conifer woodland above winding paths and a paved forecourt.

Castel Savoia at Gressoney-Saint-Jean, near the village of Òbre Biel, was built as the residence of Queen Margherita of Savoy, who decided to raise her own house there after being fascinated by the beauty of the Lys Valley during several stays as a guest in the villa of the Barons Peck-Beccoz — later renamed Villa Margherita in her honour.
The castle proper is a three-storey eclectic villa marked by five towers: the ground floor held the living quarters, the noble floor the royal apartments, and the second floor was reserved for gentlemen of the court. The estate, which also comprises the Villa Belvedere, the Romitaggio Carducci and the Savoy Castle Alpine Botanical Garden, was acquired by the Aosta Valley region in 1981.
