Kliczków Castle
Kliczków Castle is a late medieval castle on the river Kwisa in south-western Poland, originally founded in 1297 and rebuilt over centuries. The main building dates to 1585 (Renaissance), with extensive late-19th-century expansion that blended English Gothic Revival, Italian Renaissance and French Mannerist details. After 1990 it was restored and converted into a commercial conference and recreation centre, reopening in 1999.

A multi-wing masonry complex combining a rectangular 1585 Renaissance main block with later, asymmetrical 19th‑century additions that introduce Gothic-Revival pointed gables and decorative Renaissance mannerist ornament. The roofline is varied, with steep gables, prominent chimneys and decorative cornices; facades show stucco and dressed stone detailing. The castle stands close to the river Kwisa and is set within a wide English-style park, with lawns, specimen trees and a small enclosed horse cemetery on the grounds.

Kliczków was founded as a border fortress on the river Kwisa by Duke Bolko I of Jawor in 1297. In 1391 it fell into the hands of the Rechenberg family from Saxony, who held it for almost 300 years; the main building dates from a Renaissance rebuilding of 1585.
After several more changes of ownership the castle came in 1767 to John Christian, Count of Solms-Baruth, and the Solms-Baruth dynasty owned it until 1942. Extensive late-19th-century expansion gave the castle its eclectic blend of English Gothic Revival, Italian Renaissance and French Mannerist details. In 1971 the Wrocław University of Technology acquired the castle and tried in vain to save it; restoration after 1990 saw Kliczków reopen in 1999 as a commercial conference and recreation centre.
