Ogrodzieniec Castle
Ogrodzieniec Castle is a medieval fortress ruin on the summit of Castle Mountain in the Polish Jura, originally built in the 14th century and rebuilt in the Renaissance. Perched on and integrated with large limestone outcrops, its ruined walls and towers dominate the hill and are open to visitors as part of the Trail of the Eagles' Nests. The site preserves extensive masonry remains including a prominent round keep and surrounding curtain walls.

As it stood in 1545
The shape it held in its prime.
Perched directly on a jagged white-limestone outcrop, the castle has a tall cylindrical keep at its centre, several shorter round and rectangular tower stubs, and a broken circuit of curtain walls of pale grey, roughly coursed masonry. Walls close around three high natural rocks with a narrow gap originally used as the entrance. Many wall tops are missing or collapsed in places, and the structure terraces down the grassy slope of the hill.
