Toruń Castle
Toruń Castle is a 13th–14th-century Teutonic Order castle in Toruń, Poland. Much of the complex was demolished after the 1454 town rebellion; surviving red-brick walls, a garderobe tower and extensive vaulted cellars have been partly excavated and house museum displays. The site forms part of the Medieval Town of Toruń, a UNESCO World Heritage area.

Red-brick Gothic castle laid out in a horseshoe plan with two main wings opening onto a central bailey. Prominent features at its prime included a steeply tiled, high brick gatehouse and a garderobe (dansker) tower projecting over a small stream that joins the Vistula. Thick red-brick curtain walls with surviving low crenellations enclosed an inner courtyard centred on a polygonal stone well, with vaulted cellars beneath the palace wing.

Toruń Castle was among the first castles built by the Teutonic Order in the territory enfeoffed to them by Duke Konrad I of Masovia, and its first known function was as the residence of a Teutonic commander. Unlike the Order's later four-winged conventual castles, it had only two wings, laid out in a pattern resembling a horseshoe.
Much of the complex was demolished after the town's rebellion of 1454. The largest section to survive is the garderobe tower, or dansker, set over a stream that joins the nearby Vistula; the extensive vaulted cellars also remain and have been partly excavated.
The vaults now hold permanent museum exhibits — displayed in settings such as the armoury, kitchen, dormitory, scriptorium and mint — and the castle forms part of the Medieval Town of Toruń, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Historic Monument of Poland.
