Fetteresso Castle

Fetteresso Castle is a historic Scottish fortified house near Stonehaven in Kincardineshire, originating as a 14th-century tower house and substantially rebuilt in 1761 in a Scottish Gothic / Palladian manner. The site retains medieval fabric and later 17th–18th century additions and has been restored and divided into residential units in recent decades.

The shape it held in its prime.

Broad, low castellated manor built of grey stone with a central round drum tower capped by a crenellated parapet and flying flag, flanked by rectangular towers and a long two-storey façade; crow-stepped gables on one wing and pitched slate roofs on the end blocks. Windows are regular sash openings and the entrance sits within the drum tower; the building faces a wide clipped lawn and curved carriage drive. At its prime the roofline was complete and crenellations continuous.
