Červený Kameň Castle
Červený Kameň is a medieval castle in the Little Carpathians of southwestern Slovakia, originally built in the 13th century and rebuilt as a fortress in the 16th century. The castle stands on a wooded rocky hill above the village of Častá and today houses a museum. Its prominent features are a long rectangular residential block above a stone plinth, rounded bastions and a cylindrical tower at one end.

A long, rectangular three-storey block of pale plastered masonry rises from a rusticated stone plinth and curtain wall, pierced by two regular rows of small square windows. A continuous steep grey metal roof runs the building's length, punctured by chimneys and small dormers. Projecting semicircular drum bastions sit on the forward curtain wall; a large cylindrical tower anchors the eastern end. The castle perches on a wooded rocky hill with an arched stone bridge and gateway providing the main approach. At prime the fabric is complete and intact.

A stone castle was built at Červený Kameň in the 13th century by Tiburtius Rosd or his descendants, one link in the Kingdom of Hungary's chain of frontier defence castles running from Pressburg to Žilina. It stands on a wooded rocky hill in the Little Carpathians above the village of Častá, known in German first as Rotenstein and later as Bibersburg.
When the Pálffy family acquired the castle in 1588, the fortress was completed and it became a representative noble castle. Rebuilt in the 16th century with a long rectangular residential block above a stone plinth, rounded bastions and a cylindrical tower at one end, the restored castle today houses a museum.
