Hilltop fortress of pale beige ashlar masonry perched on a rocky scarp, dominated by two tall rectangular towers: a smaller crenellated square keep with square merlons and a flagpole, and a larger plain square tower with simple, unadorned faces. Thick curtain walls descend the slope with lower outer walls and angled outworks, enclosing terraces and an inner ward; a paved winding road leads up to a fortified gate area with flagpoles. Stone shows rough-cut blocks and weathered joints.

The Castle of Lorca is a fortress of medieval origin, constructed between the 9th and 15th centuries on a rocky promontory above the town in Murcia. Its series of defensive structures made the town and fortress an impregnable point in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages, and it was a key strategic point of contention between Christians and Muslims during the Reconquista.
At 640 metres long and 120 metres wide, it is one of the largest castles in Spain, dominated by two large rectangular towers linked by thick curtain walls, with an inner ward reached by a winding approach road. It is listed as a Site of Cultural Interest.
