Monzón Castle is a medieval fortress in Monzón, Spain, with origins in the 10th century and major modifications by the Knights Templar after 1143. Its fabric shows continuous military use through the 18th century and it is today partially restored and protected as a national monument. Perched on a truncated conical hill, the castle presents massive sloping bastioned curtain walls of warm sandstone-coloured masonry and a compact rectilinear silhouette. A central square keep rises above lower rectangular towers; one smaller square tower flies a flag. Wall faces show patched ashlar and rubble courses with a few narrow window openings. The base slopes down to scrubby terrain and the plain beyond, the whole composed as a compact fortified cluster.

Monzón Castle was built in the tenth century under Muslim rule and captured for Aragon in 1089, when it was conquered by Sancho Ramírez. In 1143 the castle passed to the Knights Templar, who added walls, towers, stables, a dining hall and dormitories; King James I of Aragon lived in the fort under Templar protection during his childhood.

At the dissolution of the Templars, the castle was besieged and captured in 1309 by the army of James II of Aragon. It kept garrisons into the nineteenth century, its walls and defences evolving accordingly, its appearance today reflects the eighteenth-century configuration. Partially restored, it is designated a National Monument.
