San Andrés Castle
The Castle of San Andrés (Torre de San Andrés) is a small coastal fortification in the village of San Andrés, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, built to protect the beach and nearby anchorage from pirate and naval attack. Constructed around the start of the 18th century, it stood at the mouth of a ravine where a stream reaches the sea; part of the structure later collapsed after flood damage but much of it once remained standing.

Built of local dark volcanic masonry, the structure presents thick walls pierced by narrow embrasures and low gun platforms facing the open Atlantic, with the village and cultivated orchards rising immediately landward; in its prime the masonry was complete and the fort stood intact above the shoreline.
