Nevytsky Castle
Nevytske Castle is a medieval stone castle on a wooded volcanic hill above the Uzh River in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine. The site preserves a tall rectangular keep (donjon), a round tower, curtain walls and an inner bailey; much of it is ruinous today though significant elements remain visible.

Perched on a steep, wooded volcanic hill above the Uzh River, the castle is dominated by a tall rectangular stone keep with a high wooden-shingle roof and an encircling covered wooden gallery. A separate round tower with a conical wooden roof stands to one side. Irregular grey-stone curtain walls form terraces and an inner bailey, with many stretches broken or lower in height. The complex faces a river valley and a small riverside settlement below.

Nevytske Castle stands in woods on a hill of volcanic origin above the Uzh River, twelve kilometres north of Uzhhorod — a position that let it control the Transcarpathian route over the Uzhok pass. It was first mentioned in 1274 as a donjon belonging to King Laszlo IV of Hungary.
Completely rebuilt in the early 15th century, the castle became the mighty citadel of the Drugeth family, who oversaw its continuous modernisation over the centuries; the keep took its present form in the early 16th century. It passed from hand to hand during the strife that convulsed Hungary in the early 17th century, and in 1644 George II Rákóczi, Prince of Transylvania, ruined it, leaving it much as it stands today.
The site's remoteness and declining defensive importance preserved it from complete demolition. The surviving fabric includes the tall rectangular keep, a round tower, curtain walls and the inner bailey; parts of the castle — the roof of the donjon and the keep — collapsed in March 2019, and it was partly reconstructed in early 2021.
