Schoenborn Palace
The Beregvár Hunting Lodge (Schloss Beregvár) is a late-19th-century neo‑romantic palace in Chynadiyovo (Mukachevo Raion), Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine, built for the Schönborn‑Buchheim family as a hunting estate. The building presents steep red-tiled roofs, a conical corner tower, a slender clock turret and pale rendered masonry set beside a formal dendrological park with a decorative lake and sculptural groups. Since 1946 it has served as the Karpaty sanatorium.

The palace is a late-19th-century neo‑romantic complex of pale rendered masonry with dressed stone quoins and red terracotta tile roofs. Its silhouette includes steep mansard and gabled rooflines, numerous tall brick chimneys, decorative dormers, a prominent round tower capped by a conical tiled roof and a slender clock turret with a spire. Façades feature irregularly spaced mullioned windows, carved stone surrounds and shaped tiles; the building stands at the edge of a formal dendrological park with clipped boxwood parterres and a nearby decorative lake.

The Beregvár hunting lodge was built between 1890 and 1895 by Count Erwein-Friedrich von Schönborn-Buchheim as a hunting estate and seasonal residence for the Schönborns, the Austro-Hungarian aristocratic dynasty for whom autumn visits and hunting parties in these Carpathian estates had become a cherished tradition. The architect Z. Gresserson designed it in neo-romantic style, blending Romanesque and Gothic motifs in brick and shaped tiles after the French Renaissance castles of the "age of the musketeers".
A local legend, unsupported by evidence, claims the palace has 366 windows, the last bricked up and reopened every leap year, 52 rooms for the weeks of the year and 12 entrances for the months. The building is rich in bas-reliefs, weather vanes and stained glass carrying Schönborn heraldry, its tower clock with chimes still functions, and a chapel replaced an original passageway in the early 20th century.
Since 1946 the palace has housed the "Karpaty" sanatorium, specialising in cardiovascular and neurological treatment, set in a dendrological park of rare tree species with a decorative lake and the sculptural groups "The Deer" and "The Bear with Cubs".
