Schwerin Castle
Schwerin Castle is a 19th-century historicist palace sited on an island in Lake Schwerin that served for centuries as the ducal residence of Mecklenburg and today houses a state parliament, a palace museum, a restaurant and cultural events. The present appearance largely dates from major rebuilding between 1845 and 1857, incorporating retained older elements such as the chapel and bastions.
