The Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion is a Classical Greek temple built of white-beige Agrileza marble on a raised crepidoma overlooking the sea. It is a hexastyle peripteral temple with a central naos that housed a large cult statue and was set within a walled sanctuary with gateway and stoas.

A rectangular marble temple standing on a three-step crepidoma with six fluted Doric columns at each short end and thirteen along each long side, continuous entablature and pediment above, and a covered porch with coffered marble beams. Surfaces are coarse-grained white-beige marble with painted taenia borders visible on some blocks. The structure sits on a low rocky coastal promontory with the Myrtoan Sea visible through the intercolumniations and scrubby ground around the platform.
