Hněvín Castle
Hněvín is a hilltop castle above the town of Most in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. The medieval site was rebuilt and provided with a new lookout and visitor facilities at the end of the 19th century; the reconstruction was finished in 1900 and is the basis for the present appearance.

Sits atop a wooded hill, a compact complex of pale plastered residential buildings and robust stone curtain walls. The principal feature is a tall cylindrical stone lookout tower with a high conical red-tiled roof; attached is a multi-gabled, three-storey white manor with steep red tile roofs, dormer windows and a ground-floor arcade/loggia. Low stone curtain walls encircle terraces and a paved inner courtyard, with a smaller round bastion tower capped by a glazed cupola on the outer wall.

Archaeological investigation on the hill above Most has uncovered the remains of a castle standing there in the 9th century; the stone castle that followed was probably built by the Hrabišic family, the owners of Most. After Wenceslaus I granted Most the status of a royal city, the castle became the seat of the district administrator.
In 1480 Jindřich, son of George of Poděbrady, sold the castle to Beneš of Veitmile, and in 1482 the famous meeting between a Saxon princess and King Vladislaus II took place in Most. In 1595 Rudolf II sold the castle to the city of Most itself, which also held it after the conclusion of the Peace of Westphalia.
The castle's present appearance dates from a rebuilding at the end of the 19th century, when the medieval site was given a new lookout and visitor facilities; the reconstruction was finished in 1900.
