Žumberk Castle
Žumberk Castle is a medieval hilltop castle ruin above the market town of Žumberk in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. Built from the late 13th century, its fortification originally formed a pentagon with a surrounding deep moat and an adjacent service yard; the masonry survives as scattered curtain-wall fragments and a high wall stump now stabilised as a heritage ruin.

On a grassy wooded hilltop the castle presented a compact pentagonal plan of rubble-stone curtain walls rising directly from a deep surrounding ditch; roofs and timberwork have since gone. At prime the silhouette showed uninterrupted stone walls punctured by rectangular embrasures and door openings, with a substantial high wall or tower mass at one side. Stone is locally variegated small-to-medium masonry with occasional brick-lined openings. The setting is above the market settlement with forested horizon.
