Château de Fougeret
The Château de Fougeret is a historic château in Queaux, Vienne, France, built between the 15th and 16th centuries and extensively remodelled in the 19th century. It stands atop a high cliff overlooking the Vienne valley and is surrounded by parkland and an arboretum. The building retains medieval elements alongside 19th-century additions and was listed as a historical monument in 2010.

A warm ochre-rendered corps de logis flanked by multiple round towers with conical slate roofs and short crenellated parapets; ashlar stone surrounds mark the tall mullioned windows. The roofline mixes steep slate pitches with squat chimneys and slender finials. Some towers step out on corbelled bases with decorative stonework. The château sits on a high cliff above the Vienne valley, approached through parkland and mature trees, the façades complete and intact at the building's 19th-century height.

The Château de Fougeret was built between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries at the top of a 38-metre cliff dominating the Vienne valley at Queaux. It keeps genuine medieval bones — brattices, a basement, a sarcophagus, an icehouse and two mullioned windows — alongside a monumental Gothic fireplace of sculpted stone and a Gothic spiral stone staircase with a tracery railing like that of Chambord.
A bourgeois family renovated the château extensively in the nineteenth century to modernise it and stage the richness of its owners: another level was added, the windows reorganised, the interior brought up to date. Its ten-hectare park along the Vienne holds an arboretum of New World species, American walnuts and giant sequoias among them. Listed as a historical monument in 2010, the château had been bought in 2009 by Véronique and François Geffroy, who set out to restore it and move in after years of abandonment.
