The castle stands within a park of mature trees and open lawn on gently sloping ground.

The story of Gołuchów Castle.

Gołuchów was built in 1550–1560 for Rafał Leszczyński: an early Renaissance castle on a square plan, serving as both defensive stronghold and residence. His son Wacław, the next owner, expanded it into a magnate's Renaissance stronghold, and it went on to house three of Poland's prominent magnate families in turn, Leszczyński, Działyński and Czartoryski.

In 1853 the partially run-down castle was bought by Count Tytus Działyński for his son, Count Jan Kantega Działyński, and his wife, Princess Izabela Czartoryska. The residence sits in a 158-hectare landscape park designed by Adam Kubaszewski, the largest in Greater Poland, which layered Romanesque and English styles onto the setting.

In 2016 the Polish State Treasury bought the castle from the Princes Czartoryski Foundation for PLN 20 million, and it now serves as a museum, its central square tower and polygonal corner towers rising over lawns and mature trees.
