Gwrych Castle
Gwrych Castle is a large 19th-century Gothic Revival castellated country house near Abergele in Conwy County Borough, Wales. Built from 1810 onwards for Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh and extended by his heirs, it functioned as a full-scale Victorian and Edwardian country house before later decline and partial ruin; the estate is now owned and managed by a preservation trust.

The shape it held in its prime.
A long, pale-grey stone Gothic Revival castellated mansion composed of a central multi-storey block flanked by multiple curtain walls and numerous round and square towers with battlemented parapets. The roofline is dominated by crenellations rather than steep pitched roofs. The house sits against a steep, wooded hillside with the estate walls sweeping out to enclose a broad rectangular forecourt and large lawn to the front; terraces, lodges and scattered towers punctuate the perimeter.
