Knebworth House

Knebworth House is a Tudor Gothic English country house in the parish of Knebworth, Hertfordshire, long held by the Lytton family and set within parkland and formal gardens. The estate includes a main parterre, a later herb garden, the medieval St. Mary's Church and the Lytton family mausoleum within its grounds. The house and gardens are open to the public and are used for events and filming.

A long, crenellated Tudor-Gothic west wing of warm buff stone with tall mullioned and transomed windows, carved stone tracery and an ornate central arched entrance with an oriel above. Cylindrical and octagonal turrets rise at the corners topped by small copper cupolas and finials; parapets and sculpted pinnacles silhouette against the sky. The house stands behind a low stone balustraded terrace and a broad trimmed lawn, with clipped trees and informal mixed borders close to the façade.
