Znojmo Castle
Znojmo Castle is a hilltop medieval castle complex overlooking the Thaya (Dyje) river in Znojmo, South Moravia. The site preserves a Romanesque rotunda and later stone curtain walls with an attached Baroque chateau; part of the castle front was converted to a town brewery. The complex sits on steep rocky crags above the town and was long connected to Znojmo's town walls.

As it stood in 1220
The shape it held in its prime.
Perched on a steep limestone ridge above the river, the castle presents a long pale-stone curtain wall running along the hilltop with contiguous buildings and a prominent yellow Baroque chateau with red tile roofs. Below the walls the slope is rocky and terraced; at the riverbank sit low brewery buildings with a tall brick chimney and arched windows. The complex includes a small Romanesque rotunda and formerly an octagonal gate tower at the main entrance.
