The shape it held in its prime.
Large two-storey castellated mansion of reddish-brown ashlar sandstone with four round corner turrets and a substantial rectangular four-storey tower rising from the centre rear; continuous crenellated parapet around most of the roofline. Facade punctuated by several bay and arched sash windows, a central arched main entrance set in dressed stone, and visible carved tympana on stonework. Sited above the town with trees behind, the whole building appears complete and intact at its prime.
