Muncaster Castle
Muncaster Castle is a privately owned medieval and later country house in Muncaster parish, Cumbria, overlooking the River Esk near Ravenglass. The estate has belonged to the Pennington family for many centuries and the house incorporates a medieval pele tower and a great hall alongside extensive 19th-century remodelling by Anthony Salvin. Today it is a restored family home and visitor attraction with gardens, an aviary and displays of the castle's historic objects.
