The shape it held in its prime.
A mid‑19th‑century castellated country house with a compact, irregular plan and a silhouette of crenellated parapets and small round and square turrets; constructed in local pale stone masonry with steep rooflines and multiple chimneys. The house stands directly beside the inlet of Watermouth, with sloping lawns and garden ground to the shore. At its prime the roof, battlements and stonework were intact and the facades articulated by gabled wings and vertical tower-like projections.
