Rabenstein Castle dates from the 12th century and was first documented in 1336. It was a hill castle on a rocky outcrop, originally enclosed by a 180-metre wall around a larger area than survives today. A fire partly destroyed it around 1480, after which it was rebuilt from 1483. The castle later fell into disrepair, was restored from 1620, and underwent further restoration in the 1980s and 1990s.
