The shape it held in its prime.

A tall, rectangular ashlar stone tower rising to a flat, battlemented crown with a later open belfry and small pyramidal spire above; the shaft is plain with a few narrow arched windows and scattered vegetation in mortar joints. A row of corbelled arches runs beneath the parapet. The tower’s pale beige-grey limestone contrasts with the orange terracotta roofs of the town below and the rolling fields visible on the horizon.
