Meysembourg Castle
Meysembourg Castle is a Neo‑Renaissance residence built in 1880 on the site of an earlier medieval stronghold near Larochette, central Luxembourg. The house retains a park setting and incorporates surviving fragments of the older site such as the chapel, the moat and part of an outer wall; it is privately owned and has undergone restoration work in the 20th and 21st centuries.

A late 19th‑century Neo‑Renaissance château with pale rendered exterior walls rising from a visible stone base; paired round corner towers capped by very steep, slate-clad conical/mansard roofs with decorative iron cresting and small red dormer windows. Narrow, regularly spaced sash windows with shutters puncture the plastered façades. The building sits within dense deciduous parkland, above a stone-lined moat and adjacent fragments of older masonry and outer wall.

The Meysembourg family is first mentioned in the 12th century, when the Dame de Meysembourg was in the service of Ermesinde, Countess of Luxembourg. The estate, two kilometres south-west of Larochette in central Luxembourg, remained in the line of inheritance until Custine de Wiltz, the last in line to inherit, fled during the French invasion of 1794.
After a public auction in 1798 the castle passed through the hands of the Lords of Fischbach, Cassal and finally Jean-François Reuter of Heddersdorf, who occupied the village after expelling its inhabitants. The present house was built in 1880 in Neo-Renaissance style on the site of the medieval stronghold, keeping fragments of the older castle — the chapel, the moat and part of an outer wall — in its park setting.
Sold to Alphonse Spiegelburg in 1974, the property now belongs to the Clasen family. It is privately owned and closed to visitors, though the possibility exists that it will be turned into a hotel.
