Bled Castle
Bled Castle is a medieval fortress sited on a steep limestone precipice above the town of Bled, overlooking Lake Bled in Slovenia. Its core includes a Romanesque tower and later Renaissance buildings grouped around two courtyards; today the site houses a historical museum and is a major tourist attraction.

As it stood in 1700
The shape it held in its prime.
Perched atop a sheer limestone cliff, the castle is a compact cluster of pale stone buildings with red-tiled roofs and a prominent round tower capped by a conical red roof. Low curtain walls and stone battlements step along the cliff edge; buildings are arranged around two linked courtyards reached by an external staircase. Ivy climbs some façades and trees shelter parts of the site; the complex overlooks Lake Bled below.
