Royal Palace of Olite
The Royal Palace of Olite is a large medieval castle-palace in Olite, Navarre, that served as one of the principal seats of the Kings of Navarre in the 14th–15th centuries. Largely rebuilt and expanded under Charles III, it combines fortified curtain walls and numerous decorative towers with palatial courts and a Gothic church; it was heavily damaged in 1813 and restored in the 20th century.

The shape it held in its prime.
A compact complex of light-beige ashlar masonry with a dense silhouette of crenellated curtain walls and many polygonal, circular and square towers; a tall rectangular keep (Tower of Homage) with four small round corner turrets and a flag rises above the mass. Several towers wear steep slate roofs and conical turrets, interspersed with machicolations, arched gatehouses and projecting balconies. The palace fronts town squares and encloses multiple inner courtyards and terraced hanging gardens above vaulted substructures; facades and roofs are complete and intact.
