Help rebuild the Rizzo clan →What does the Rizzo name mean?
The southern form of riccio, 'curly' — for the curly-haired — running alongside the central-Italian Ricci.
The history of Rizzo
Rizzo is Ricci in a southern mouth: the curly-haired man, named in the dialects of Sicily and the Mezzogiorno. The southern slant of the Italian migration made it familiar across the United States, where it carried unchanged.
