Apollonia
Apollonia is the archaeological remains of an ancient Greek colony and later Roman city in southern Illyria, located beside the Aoös/Vjosë river in present-day Albania. The site is an open archaeological park of scattered foundations, terraces and partially standing classical monuments dating from the Archaic through Roman periods.

A low grassy plain peppered with low stone and brick foundations stretches to a raised classical colonnaded facade on a stepped stone platform. The colonnade rises from broad steps to a triangular pediment, which is broken in places; flanking walls of brick and stone extend from the podium. Olive and oak trees enclose the ruins on a gentle slope; unroofed masonry, cut blocks and terraced brickwork define former streets and buildings.
