Melk Abbey is an early 18th-century Benedictine monastery complex on a rocky outcrop above the town of Melk and the Danube in Lower Austria. The Baroque complex is dominated by a twin-towered church with a large central dome and extensive monastic wings housing a library and state rooms.

A large Baroque monastery complex set on a rocky hill above the Danube, dominated by a symmetrical yellow-and-white striped façade, twin onion-shaped towers with verdigris copper cupolas and a large green domed choir behind them. Long, three-storey monastic wings with rows of tall arched and rectangular windows extend along the ridge. Stone balustrades, classical statues on the roofline and an arched entrance loggia face the town below. Surfaces are stuccoed and ornamented, roofs clad in red tiles, towers capped with gilded finials.
