Cliveden
Cliveden is an English country house and estate on a Chiltern Hills ridge above the River Thames, near Taplow and Burnham in Buckinghamshire. The present Italianate mansion was designed by Charles Barry and completed in 1851; by the turn of the 20th century it displayed extensive Victorian and Astor-era interiors and formal terraces. The house sits within 375 acres of gardens and woodlands, with parts of the house and grounds open to visitors.

Three-storey Italianate mansion of pale Roman cement render with terracotta balusters, keystones and finials, set on a 400-foot long, 20-foot high red-brick balustraded terrace facing a clipped formal lawn. A long, balustraded roofline with a continuous Latin inscription crowns the façade; rows of tall sash windows punctuate each storey. To the west stands a 100-foot clock tower with gilded clock faces and a crowned figure above. Mature trees and clipped parterres slope down from terrace to the river beyond.
