Manchester Piccadilly station
Manchester Piccadilly is Manchester's principal railway station, providing long-distance, regional and local rail services and an interchange with the Metrolink tram. The station comprises a large iron-and-glass trainshed covering twelve terminal platforms, two through platforms on a bridge to the south, a glazed concourse with mezzanine level and an undercroft housing tram platforms and services. Major redevelopment work was completed around 2002, creating the present entrance, concourse and glazed trainshed roof.

A broad, curved glass-and-steel concourse fronts a vast Victorian iron-and-glass trainshed whose four-span roof is glazed with thousands of panes supported on wrought-iron trusses and rows of slender cast-iron columns. The approach is marked by a tall blue station pylon and a ten-storey office block (Gateway House) beside the entrance. Beneath the terminal platforms is an undercroft of brick arches and cast-iron columns containing Metrolink tram platforms; a glazed mezzanine and travelator connect concourse to the distant through platforms.
