RAF Marham

RAF Marham is an active Royal Air Force main operating base in Norfolk, England, serving as the home of front-line squadrons and support units. In the late 2010s it was upgraded for Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning operations and hosts maintenance, training and hardened shelter infrastructure for fast jets.

What RAF Marham looked like in its prime.

An expansive triangular wartime airfield reworked with long, wide concrete runways and broad asphalt aprons. Low, boxy maintenance hangars and new light‑coloured metal-clad Lightning Maintenance and Finish buildings line the technical site; rows of square, reinforced hardened aircraft shelters (blast doors) dot dispersal areas. Perimeter fencing, service roads and vehicle parks separate grassed infields. Aircraft on the apron are matte military grey; painted markings, taxiway lights and vertical landing pads interrupt the hard surfaces.
