What Bayreuth Festival Theatre looked like in its prime.

Low, broad complex of red-brown brick with a more ornate stone-faced entry block at the front (the Königsbau) and otherwise plain brick wings. Multiple dark, low-pitched metal roofs step down from a taller, rectangular stage house with a large arched upper window. The building sits on a planted, gently sloping green hill with a paved forecourt. Interior structure is predominantly timber and plaster with a painted canvas ceiling over the auditorium.
