What Palazzo Medici Riccardi looked like in its prime.

A compact three‑storey rectangular palazzo of warm brown‑grey pietra forte: heavily rusticated blocks on the ground floor, progressively smoother ashlar above, horizontal stringcourses separating the stories and a broad projecting stone cornice capping the roofline. The street level originally has an open corner loggia and arched shop fronts; a low‑pitched tiled roof sits behind the cornice. At the centre is an open colonnaded courtyard with round arches and slender columns, paved in stone and open to the sky; surfaces appear newly cut and intact.
