As it stood in 1998

What Estadio Municipal de Abanca Riazor looked like in its prime.

A compact horseshoe-shaped football bowl with four named stands (Tribuna, Preferencia, Marathón and Pabellón) built close to the touchlines; most stands have two vertical tiers of plastic seating in alternating bands of blue and pale tones. A continuous cantilevered roof with exposed red-painted steel trusses shelters the upper tiers. The pitch is a rectangular 105x68m turf set slightly below surrounding concourses. Advertising hoardings and a large display panel occupy the upper ends; the site backs onto Riazor beach.
